We speak to ServiceSeeking.com.au newcomer Nikki Teller from The Write Calibre about how she’s found the site so far. Here’s a hint: It’s all pretty positive!

What does your business do?
Online copywriting (such as web content and business blogs), direct mail marketing and other freelance journalism.

How many jobs have you quoted on?
13 – I only joined up in the last couple of months.

How many new customers have you won?
2

The latest job was a web content job for www.cleardirectionhypnotherapy.com.au which has turned into an ongoing job which is just fantastic.

Is ServiceSeeking.com.au successful in helping you win work?
Absolutely. The jobs I have won are also referring me to other people. So while 2 out of 13 might not sound like a grand number, it cost me very little to win those jobs, and then those jobs refer me to more people – it has a snowball effect. And I’ve only just started using it! My competition appears to be high quality, but not overwhelming in numbers also, which is good for both the businesses and the customers.

What other types of marketing does your business do?
Google Ads, local search sites, social media and, of course, direct marketing which is one of the biggest crowd pullers!

How do they compare to ServiceSeeking.com.au?
A bit hit and miss. You need to play around with Google Ads a lot and watch the analytics to get it right. Also, obviously, the content on your site needs to support your ad. Service Seeking, Google Ads and Direct Marketing are all fairly consistent in helping me find new clients, so they are my top 3, but Service Seeking takes the least amount of effort and is the cheapest – so you get a better return on investment!

Any tips for new businesses?
Always deliver what you said you were going to deliver and then some. Absolutely value your clients, they are gold – without them you wouldn’t exist. Keep plugging away at Service Seeking because it’s such a cheap and easy way to win jobs. If you are new, remember to contact your clients for testimonials as these are great for giving you credibility and creating trust. Don’t be afraid of social media. Oh and always answer your phone, and return calls and emails pronto!

Nikki will actually be contributing regular articles to our blog, so keep an eye out for her work!
