Meet Liv.
At home, she’s a busy mother of two who loves to photograph her kids. At work, she’s the creative eye and savvy business brain behind the very successful Liv Style Photography.
Now working for clients such as Tag Heuer and featuring in some of Sydney’s top wedding magazines, it’s difficult to imagine Liv’s career began with her taking photos for friends in her local mother’s group.
“I have always taken photos of my own kids and then began shooting friend’s children who I met through mother’s group”, she says.
She had never considered going professional, however, until her late stepfather gave her the idea.
“My parents were renewing their vowels because my stepfather was ill with cancer, and they hired photographers to take photos on the day. Of course, I still took photos on my own camera and in the end, my parents actually preferred mine over the professional ones”.
After seeing her work, Liv remembers her stepfather asking her- “Why don’t you do this for a living?” – and the rest is history.
With more time on her hands, once the kids went to school, Liv started working for studios and expanding her work into fashion, wedding and corporate photography. Liv Style Photography has grown to include two more photographers and a design team to handle social media and promotion.
Liv says that breaking into the wedding photography scene and garnering such a strong Facebook and Instagram following (10,500 likes and 12.4k followers!) have been exciting achievements for her and the team.
“I always thought I would stick to family photography. I never imagined my work to be featured in Modern Wedding magazine, Wedded Wonderland blog or even Channel Nine’s morning show”.
Liv maintains that even with all her success, she still goes back to Service Seeking to connect with new customers.
“I love Service Seeking because there’s such a variety and consistency of jobs that come through, and I’ve picked up some amazing clients”.
Liv’s photography style- which she describes as “timeless”, “elegant” and “natural”-really does speak for itself, with word of mouth remaining her most powerful source of promotion.
“I photographed a wedding in Canberra through ServiceSeeking, and ended up shooting weddings for their entire friend circle…just recently, I did the bride’s sister’s wedding too!”
While her business continues to expand and her reputation grows, Liv’s sights for the future remain humble and clear.
“I don’t want to become too enormous…we are known for our small boutique style. You always want business to grow, but maintaining quality and keeping things personal will always be the most important thing for me”.
