From 1970s to modern marble: Adam's apartment renovation -

Adam recently renovated his Double Bay apartment – and the devil is in the details. The project was an overwhelming success, but it’s the finer points of the renovation that really turned this house into a home.

ServiceSeeking was lucky enough to take a look, and we liked what we saw!

The project was the reno of a 140sqm, three bedroom, 1970s apartment in Double Bay, Sydney.

The trick was to turn it into a modern, open space with a creative use of light and modern appliances – without losing the apartment’s essence.

It’s these details Adam loves most.

“The most rewarding aspect was transforming an apartment from the original 1970s to a modern apartment – complete with air-conditioning in all rooms and Bose surround sound. Also – heated flooring and open bifold doors helped modernise the apartment and added a sense of space.”

The renovation took five months – but didn’t come without its complications. Luckily, Adam has some pearls of wisdom to share with those considering doing their renovation over the summer.

“Be careful taking the renovation on over the December/January holiday period as many tradies go away,” says Adam.

And having his wedding smack bang in the middle of the reno process didn’t help, either. “I had a wedding and a honeymoon in the middle of the renovation, which made things difficult to manage at times.”

Although the whole reno is very impressive, what we loved were the details. The waterfall tap, automated Japanese toilet, temperature-controlled wine fridge, and large slabs of marble really make the place!

Adam was grateful to Service Seeking for saving the day when his other tradies dropped the ball.

“ServiceSeeking was my go-to app to hire tradies to get the job done. Particularly in December and January when my regular tradies were away, I used ServiceSeeking that could come and finish the job.”

His main tip to those considering renovating is to choose the right tradie.

“I look for honesty and reliability. I need to be able to trust that they will turn up on time and do a good job at a fair price.”
