To find out how much space your home office would require, think about your needs. How much equipment will you be using? Are you going to work from home on a daily basis or just occasionally? For those who need easy-access storage, a desk with built-in drawers may be the best option. Before purchasing a desk, be sure to test it out. Is it comfortable? Is it spacious enough to accommodate your equipment? Is it the right height for you? With plenty of desks available in the market today, you can easily find one that suits your style and budget.
- Chair. When shopping for a chair, choose one that is comfortable, just the right height, and provides proper back and arm support. Don’t buy a chair just because it looks pretty. An ergonomic chair is very important as you’ll be sitting on it for long periods of time. Office chair prices range from $47 to $1200, but there are already plenty of excellent options in the $100 to $200 range.
- Technology. When it comes to computers, fax machines, copiers, and the like, get the best you can afford. In an office, there are people who will fix your computer for you in case it breaks down, but you don’t have that luxury when you’re working from home. Purchase equipment that comes with a warranty or at the very least a detailed user manual so you can fix it yourself.
- Organisation. No matter what type of work you do, you can’t get much done if your home office is a mess. Make sure that you keep your desk clean and find proper storage for all your office supplies. Bind any cords and cables with cable ties or clamps. Whatever method you use, it will only work if you stick to it.
