Natural Wedding Photography
Wedding photos are so much more beautiful when they're natural. Read on to learn more about how you and your partner can look natural in your wedding pics!
Tips for Capturing Natural Wedding Photos
- Set aside some time with your photographer to get away from the pressure of being surrounded by guests.
- Don’t worry about trying to look good – listen to your photographer and enjoy each other’s company. You will only ever experience that newly married feeling once, so make the most of it
- Relax!
It’s true what everyone says – your wedding day will fly by in the blink of an eye. One minute, you’ll be waking early getting ready to see the hairdresser, and the next, you’ll be talking to your new ‘husband’ or ‘wife’ about the highlights of the day as you’re taking off your make-up.
Most photographers will suggest ‘stealing’ you both away from the chaos at some stage to capture some private moments between you. It will also get you away from the pressure and the constant attention that will surround you and allow you to breathe!
Most ceremony venues will have some nice gardens to disappear into, or at a simple home wedding, a wander around the yard will do fine.
A good wedding photographer will take natural shots of the two of you chatting and experiencing some ‘alone time’. After the often stressful round-up of family and friends to get the posed photos you perhaps wanted, it’s a lovely opportunity to just sit back and let your photographer document the two of you simply enjoying your special day and each other.
With the demands of your wedding and the strict timetable you may have to adhere to, you may only have about fifteen to twenty minutes for a quick “chill out” session. But this can often produce the most beautiful photos of the day.
Photographers will differ in the stage of your wedding day in that they like to have some “alone” time with you, but I like to do it between the ceremony and the reception.
Most couples will have lost their nervousness and will be on a ‘just married’ high. You will no doubt be relaxed and glowing in the new bond you share as husband and wife. A lot of couples worry about how they’re going to look, but if you trust your photographer and they know what they’re doing, you may forget they are even there. Try to relax, try to act naturally and try not to pose.
