Generally, May and June are popular months for remodeling. After all, there is nothing like spending that time of year in a renovated space and enjoying the finished product of weeks to months of intensive labour and huge financial costs.

However, the winter or right before it may not exactly be the best time to schedule a remodeling project. In fact, there are perks that go along with having the home renovated in the summer.

Benefits of remodeling in the summer

There are incentives that go along with tackling a project in the summer. By the time the work is finished, it will feel as if you are living in a whole new home. The following reasons may get you thinking about renovating in the summer as opposed to any other time of the year:

Save money

Costs tend to increase when supply and demand is high, and the winter months are when renovations are at a high point. This means that supplies will cost more, and contractors may also charge higher labour fees for their service. Since the summer is a slow month for most contracting agencies, most will be willing to negotiate their terms and fees, which means getting the same quality work done for a few hundred dollars less.

Avoid undesirable weather

Cold weather in and of itself is not so bad. In fact, many people welcome it and enjoy snuggling up in their warm weather gear. However, factors like rainfall and snow can greatly impede the progress to renovation work. For exterior work, such as landscape remodeling, certain materials like asphalt is easier to work with and install under warm weather conditions. Additional work like paint and primer can also take longer to dry under wet and cold weather, which could cause delays and pushbacks. Also, since there is more daylight in the summer, contractors have more hours to work with, which gets the job done quicker.

Contractor availability

As mentioned, contractors have less work available during the summer months. This is often because people tend to be away on vacation and are not willing to let contractors work on the home unsupervised. This means that the contractors have less work to juggle and can make your home their priority.

Additional renovations ideas

Most home designers recommend having some type of fireplace installed either for the main living room or the patio. Gas Fireplaces in Sydney make a terrific element either indoors or outdoors and serve a greater function than just keeping occupants cosy. The summer is a better time than ever to buy a fireplace because that is when prices are at their lowest due to low demands. Even if a fireplace is not needed at the moment, its presence alone serves as a nice backdrop from which additional décor accessories can be incorporated.

Renovating in the summer is a strategic move because of lower fees and prices as well as greater contractor availability and less interference from prohibitive weather. Sure, it would be nice to renovate in the winter and have the home ready for the upcoming freeze, but remodeling towards the end of the year ensures that you get better bargains and a smoother renovation process with lesser likelihood of delays.
