Rivers of Gold for Queensland Tradies

(28 March 2017) The latest data from find-a-tradie website ServiceSeeking.com.au highlights the most profitable areas for tradespeople in Queensland. The study identifies several areas where trades are in short supply, revealing the rivers of gold where tradies can expect to make big bucks.

Painters in the Sunshine Coast have 59 per cent less competition than the national average. This is positive news for painters in South Eastern Queensland, who belong to a typically oversupplied industry. Cairns is also a river of gold for painters, with competition levels well below the national average.  

“Painters on the Sunshine Coast and in Cairns can capitalise on the lack of competition and make considerable profit,” says ServiceSeeking.com.au CEO Jeremy Levitt. “Now is the time for painters to take advantage of the jobs in these areas, and increase their prices.”

Carpenters on the other hand can find their fortune on the Gold Coast, where there is currently a shortage of chippies.

Plasterers and plumbers in Brisbane should look towards the City and northern areas to capitalise on the lack of supply.

“The CBD can be a competitive area for many tradies. Plasterers and plumbers, however, can capitalise on Brisbane city’s lack of competition. It’s a great opportunity for plasterers and plumbers to find extra work, and increase their prices” says Mr Levitt.

Electricians face fewer competitors in both Toowoomba and Townsville.

“There are rivers of gold for tradies all over Queensland, they just need to know where to look. Targeting areas where there’s less competition is a great way for tradies to jump in and make serious money.”
